How to dial the number in the country
All voice and texts should be dialed in full international format:
+CountryCode PhoneNumber
The + Character is the universal international access line character that is being recognized by all carriers in the world. With Telestial.com service it could be change to 00.
Using 00 or + in front of the number is required.
On many phones the + on the keyboard is a separate key. On some phones, you need to hold the button with the + character for few seconds to get it in the display.
We recommend keeping all phone book records in complete international format. By doing this, you will insure that the phone number can be dialed with any mobile provider including your domestic provider, like AT&T, Rogers, Verizon, etc.
Example: US or Canada Country Code is 1
To dial a US or Canada number dial +1-10digit number including the Area code. +1-617-555-5555 or 00-1-617-555-5555.
When calling within the country where you are located you still need to dial the number in complete international format.
For example, if you are in Italy, you should dial: +39-XXXXXXXXXX, where 39 is Italy country code or 00-39-XXXXXXXXXX
You can find a complete list of country codes and how to dial at this OneSimCard.com link:
http://www.onesimcard.com/how-to-dial/

How do I tell if my phone is locked or unlocked?
Some mobile phone carriers lock their phones so they can't be used with other carriers. The simplest way to find out if the phone is locked is to borrow a SIM card from anybody who is using a different mobile service provider. If you power-up the phone and it recognizes the SIM card, your phone is unlocked and Telestial's international SIM card will work as well.
To determine if your phone is locked,
- If you haven't already purchased a Telestial international SIM card then contact your wireless provider. They will tell you or will provide some unlocking help.
- If you have already purchased the SIM from us then insert the Telestial SIM card into your device. If you get any of the following messages on your screen after entering the pin then your phone is locked:
- Insert SIM
- SIM not valid
- SIM Card Not Accepted
- Enter Restriction Code
- Enter Special Code
- Enter Subsidy Code
- Enter Subsidy Password
- Contact Service Provider (Motorola)
- or any other similar messages!
If you need to unlock the phone, we suggest contacting your carrier or phone manufacturer for unlocking information or services.

Is there a foreign country telephone codes reference with dialing instructions?
I just registered the SIM, installed it in the phone and it does not work. What should I do?
If you just activated your SIM card and cannot make a test call by following the instructions in the user manual, you will likely just need to power off the phone and power it back on again. The phone should automatically re-register with one of our partner networks.
Bear in mind that if you have an older phone that does not have 3G or higher, you will be limited to T-Mobile’s network coverage area in the USA and Rogers’ network coverage area in Canada. On some phones, switching the 2G/3G/LTE option can help initial SIM register on the network.
If the phone does not register on the network within 5 minutes after the activation, please try selecting the network manually from the Settings – Mobile Networks menu of your phone. Sometimes it helps initial SIM card registration.

Android
An operating system designed by Google for Smartphones. All phones that are not iPhones run on Android. Each update to the operating system is given a new name, related to confectionery and in alphabetical order. Telestial Android handsets run on the Gingerbread (version 2.3) and Jelly Bean (version 4.1) platforms.
Bandwidth
The width or capacity of a communications channel. Analogue bandwidth is measured in Hertz (Hz) or cycles per second. Digital bandwidth is the amount or volume of data that may be sent through a channel, measured in bits per second, without distortion. Bandwidth should not be confused with the term "band", such as a wireless phone that operates on the 800 MHz band. Bandwidth is the space it occupies on that band. The relative importance of bandwidth in wireless communications is that the size, or bandwidth, of a channel will impact transmission speed. Lots of data flowing through a narrow channel takes longer than the same amount of data flowing through a broader channel.
Billshock
The feeling experienced when a traveler returns home to find that they have incurred a huge bill on their monthly plan due to their provider's high roaming charges. Often well-publicized in the press, instances of 'billshock' have been a significant factor in the push for lower roaming fees.
Blocked SIM Card
A SIM card is a small printed circuit board that must be inserted in any GSM-based mobile phone when signing on as a subscriber. Entering your PIN code incorrectly three times will block your SIM card as a security measure, preventing unauthorized use of your phone. To unlock your card, you will need to enter a PUK code.
Call Barring
Enables you to restrict or bar certain or all types of calls to and from your mobile phone, i.e. outgoing calls, outgoing international calls, incoming calls. Barring is activated with a personal code. To use this service, it must be supported by your network and by your phone. You may also have to add this service to your subscription.
Call Divert
Enables you to divert incoming calls to another phone or answering service. To use this service, it must be supported by your network and by your phone. You may also have to add this service to your subscription.
CDMA
Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) is one of several digital wireless transmission methods in which signals are encoded using a pseudo-random sequence - which corresponds to a different communication channel - that the receiver also knows and can use to decode the received signal. CDMA is one of several "spread spectrum" techniques. CDMA offers improvements over analogue transmission in the areas of reduced call dropping, battery power conservation, more secure transmission and increased service options.
Gigabyte (GB)
A larger unit of measurement for bytes. There are 1,073,741,824 bytes per Gigabyte, or 1024 MB.
GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication)
GSM is the pan-European standard for digital cellular telephone service. GSM networks will be built as an alternative to current AMPS systems and in the future and will support enhanced data applications. GSM was designed for European markets to provide the advantage of automatic, international roaming in multiple countries. The SIM (Subscriber Identification Module) card is a vital component in GSM operation. The user can store all relevant data for the phone on a removable plastic card. The card can be plugged into any GSM compatible phone and the phone is instantly personalized to the user.
Hotspot
The method by which Wi-Fi devices gain access to the internet via a network access point. Wi-Fi Hotspots can be found in restaurants and cafes, on trains and buses, and in many other locations. Some premises charge users to connect to their Wi-Fi network; others may be free, but sometimes require some personal information (such as an email address) before you can connect. A Hotspot has a range of approximately 60ft.
IMEI
The International Mobile Equipment Identifier (IMEI) is a 15-digit number (composed of four parts) that uniquely identifies an individual wireless phone or communicator. The IMEI appears on the label located on the back of the phone. The IMEI is automatically transmitted by the phone when the network asks for it. A network operator might request the IMEI to determine if a device is in disrepair, stolen or to gather statistics on fraud or faults.
IOS
The operating system for Apple iPhones.
Megabyte (MB)
The unit used to measure data usage. Data is transmitted and stored in tiny packets known as 'bytes'. There are 1,024,000 bytes per Megabyte.
Micro SIM
A slightly smaller SIM card. While the SIM chip is the same size as a regular SIM, most of the plastic holding the chip in place is removed. This is so that the SIM takes up less space in a Smartphone, space which can then be used to add more features or processing power for the handset. The Apple iPhone 4 was the first Smartphone to use Micro SIMs, though many others now do as well.
MiFi
A portable Wi-Fi access point with a range of approximately 30ft. The MiFi provides internet access to the devices connected to it by creating a network connection to a wireless provider.
Nano SIM
The smallest SIM card type currently available on the market. As with the Micro SIM, it was developed in order to reduce the amount of space that the SIM card took up inside the handset. The Apple iPhone 5 was the first Smartphone to use Nano SIMs.
Phablet
Combining the features of both Smartphones and Tablets, this device sits between the devices that form its name in terms of size, with screens measuring from between 5 to 7 inches.
PUK
Personal Unblocking Code - used to unlock a blocked SIM card. This is delivered together with your subscription.
Regular SIM
The type of SIM that existed before the advent of Smartphones. Most older, analogue phones take a SIM of this size.
SIM Card
Subscriber Identity Module card - a small printed circuit board that must be inserted in any GSM-based mobile phone when signing on as a subscriber. It contains subscriber details, security information and memory for a personal directory of numbers. The card can be a small plug-in type or sized as a credit-card but has the same functionality. The SIM card also stores data that identifies the caller to the network service provider.
Smartphone
A mobile phone with more advanced connectivity and increased computing power, as compared to traditional handsets. Most smartphones use touchscreen technology instead of buttons, and have access to a host of standard features such as camera, video and MP3 recorder, browsing and email. Other, more customisable features are available in the form of downloadable Apps.
SMS
Short Message Service is a feature available with some wireless phones that allow users to send and/or receive short alphanumeric messages.
Social Media
Computer-based community sites for the sharing of information, ideas and experiences. These take the form of commentary (Twitter), uploading and commenting on photos (Instagram) or something that does all of the above (Facebook).
SD Card
A memory card for use in phones.
Tablet
A mobile computer which replaces keyboard and mouse with a touchscreen. They are traditionally larger than Smartphones (measuring approximately 7 inches across, diagonally) though they can often contain the same software and features.
WiFi
The technology that allows devices to connect to the internet using UHF radio waves.
